I recently stopped in for a visit with one of Lily’s owners, Cherilyn Blender, and she was kind enough to show me around her shop which is filled with amazing dresses and fine clothing. After twenty-five years as a designer in the fashion industry, what else do you do when you retire but open up a clothing boutique? Laurie and her daughter, owners of Club, bring some of the hottest styles from LA and beyond into their shop near to Beau Monde, across the bridge from River Rock Alehouse. Bright and inviting, this shop is filled with shoes, bags, jeans, tops and more. Club is quickly becoming our favorite new place to find choice items. Everyone knows someone who ‘just had a baby’, which gives you the perfect reason to stop in at this impressive baby boutique. Shannan & Co. carries a great selection of infant, toddler, and children’s clothing and accessories. I stopped in with my eighteen-month-old son the other day and could hardly leave. There were so many adorable items, and I was pleased that my son was entertained and had a good time while we were there, making my shopping easy. I’m certainly no podiatrist, but apparently the team down at The Athlete’s Foot could carry on a good conversation with one. Pronation? Supination? No thanks, I don’t speak Mandarin Chinese. But I recently spent some time playing around on their Fitprint System, which I must say is the coolest gadget I’ve seen since I got my first PDA, and after a few vocabulary lessons, I think I might be able to ask for the right type of shoe, or I could just rely on their expert advice. Joking aside, a few moments on the system gave quite a bit of insight into the world of gaits and how, whether an athlete or a pedestrian, having the right shoes can make all the difference.

There’s one thing that a store can do that, no matter what, will always earn my respect and make me a die-hard customer. That thing is to go above and beyond the call of duty to help me out with something, and that is exactly what happened with The Pulse. The very first time I ever went into the store in Meridian on the corner of Eagle Rd. and Fairview, I was looking for something that they didn’t currently have in stock, and instead of telling me that there would be some in later and that I should come back then, Carolyn spent the next five minutes calling around some of the other stores in the area to see if it was available there. Wow! Now that’s what I call customer service. But that’s simply a way of life for Carolyn and Kim, owners of The Pulse. With a love for sports, running and fitness in general, these women have held there own against the big sports stores by providing expert, honest advice, incredible service, and sharing their passion with the valley.
